by Tammy Maseberg&#8211;May 23, 2011"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8220;Stick and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> Some of us may remember well-meaning teachers and family members teaching us this old adage when we were young.\u00a0 But, is it true?\u00a0 God\u2019s Word and experience in life tells me that the opposite is more accurate:\u00a0<em> \u201cKind words heal and help.\u00a0 Cutting words wound and maim.\u201d\u00a0 Proverbs 15:4~~The Message<\/em>   <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I love the way The Message puts the above verse\u2014very simple and to the point.\u00a0 There are many other places in the Bible, particularly in Proverbs, which talk about what we project onto the people around us with what we say.\u00a0 That tells me that God is very concerned about what is in our hearts and what comes out of our mouths.\u00a0 In this age of highly technical communications, that includes e-mails, texting, etc.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One of my daily struggles is that I worry about my conversations with others.\u00a0 I go over and over past discussions and wonder if I said something to hurt their feelings.\u00a0 I try to think before I speak and then choose my comments carefully.\u00a0 And yet, sometimes out of the blue come cutting words that I know hurt that other person.\u00a0 It\u2019s frustrating, because I really try to not do this.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Whether words are good or bad, once they go out of our mouths and into the ears of another person, we cannot take them back.\u00a0 In our humanity, we all make mistakes and say the wrong things sometimes.\u00a0 I believe the key is if the occasional incident evolves into a character trait that we become known for.\u00a0 I\u2019m so grateful for all those people in my life who have shown me grace and forgiveness when I mess up.\u00a0 And, I thank God that no matter what, He will forgive me if I confess my sin before Him and truly repent.\u00a0 If I trust Him to do so, He will help me to do better the next time.\u00a0 So, take heart and use comforting words to encourager those around you.\u00a0 Ask Jesus to help you have the kindness and gentleness that He shows all of us.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em> <\/em><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u201cPleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.\u201d\u00a0 Proverbs 16:27~~New American Standard Bible<\/em><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em> <\/em><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u201cMay the words of my mouth and meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O LORD, my rock and redeemer.\u201d\u00a0 Psalm 19:14~~New Living Translation Bible<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p>God\u2019s Blessings, Tammy<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a92011 Tammy Maseberg All Rights Reserved<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Stick and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.&#8221;
