Two of my boys and I were sitting at a light, the third car back, that day when a garbage truck took the corner too fast.\u00a0 It tipped up on two wheels and nearly fell over on us.\u00a0 I couldn\u2019t react to move the car out of the way.\u00a0 Had the driver not been able to right the truck and be on his way, we would\u2019ve been crushed. <\/span> <\/p>\n

Did we survive?\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 Did God protect us and the others?\u00a0 Yes\u2014absolutely.\u00a0 The initial event lasted how long?\u00a0 Five seconds, tops.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span> <\/p>\n

Then, why did my insides feel all wiggly for the rest of the day?\u00a0 It\u2019s not because I questioned whether or not we were okay.\u00a0 I knew we were.\u00a0 Or, if God had been the One to protect us.\u00a0 I knew I had experienced a miracle firsthand.\u00a0 And, yet the after affect\u2014the residue\u2014of what happened lingered for hours.\u00a0 Even when I wasn\u2019t thinking about the incident, my body remembered and would not stop shaking. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span> <\/p>\n

When I contemplated this the other day, I realized that God doesn\u2019t just help us through the initial \u201cstab-in-the-heart\u201d situations of life.\u00a0 He will also be with us through all the aftermath, which can sometimes be the most challenging time of all.\u00a0 Crises are inevitable.\u00a0 No one is immune to bad things and challenges happening.\u00a0 And, they seem to present themselves at the most inopportune times.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span> <\/p>\n

Think about the woman whose husband died after 40 years of marriage.\u00a0 When the funeral is over and everyone goes home, she has to face a different way of living.\u00a0 What about six months down the road when the phone calls and visits from friends and family stop coming so frequently?\u00a0 Life goes on per usual for everyone else, but hers remains shattered. \u00a0The Lord will provide her with the courage she needs to her live in new circumstances.\u00a0 He will never leave us to deal with anything alone.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span> <\/p>\n

I am convinced that Jesus has us firmly in His loving arms in the aftermath of life\u2019s changes and traumatic situations\u2014those things that send us reeling.\u00a0 He helps us deal with the everyday \u201cstuff\u201d as we pick up the pieces and get back to some kind of normalcy.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span> <\/p>\n

How do I know this is true?\u00a0 Because He\u2019s done it for me and others around me over and over.\u00a0 I\u2019ve watched people deal with incredible tragedies and losses and come out on the other side with a level of faith and perseverance that they never knew existed.\u00a0 Nothing that comes our way can separate us from Jesus or His help.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/sup><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span> <\/p>\n

35 <\/sup><\/em>Can anything ever separate us from Christ\u2019s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 37 <\/sup>No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.\u00a0 38 <\/sup>And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God\u2019s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow\u2014not even the powers of hell can separate us from God\u2019s love. 39 <\/sup>No power in the sky above or in the earth below\u2014indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.\u00a0 (Romans 8:35, 37-39, NLT)<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span> <\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>So, if you find yourself struggling in any way, take heart.\u00a0 God will stay by your side and see you through by building your faith and filling you with His peace.\u00a0 May you feel His presence today.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
