\u201cIf I sing but don\u2019t have love<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I waste my breath with every song<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I bring an empty voice, a hollow noise.<\/strong><\/p>\n If I speak with a silver tongue<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Convince a crowd but don\u2019t have love<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I leave a bitter taste with every word I say.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n <\/strong> <\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Oh, how I love these lyrics!\u00a0 The song is based on 1 Corinthians 13.\u00a0 It encourages me and also makes me think about the motives of my heart.\u00a0 Every time I hear it I feel myself crying out to God, \u201cHelp me to live with Your love at the forefront of everything I do.\u201d\u00a0 When people see me, hear me talk\u2014I want them to see Jesus in me.\u00a0 The words of the chorus reflect that exact sentiment:<\/p>\n \u201cSo let my life be the proof, the proof of Your love.\u00a0 Let my love look like You and what You\u2019re made of.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n When Jesus was asked by the religious scholars what the greatest commandment was, He gave this answer: \u201cThe most important commandment is this: \u2018Listen, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord.\u00a0 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.\u2019\u00a0 The second is equally important: \u2018Love your neighbor as yourself.\u00a0 No other commandment is greater than these.\u2019\u201d <\/em>Why did He come and die on the cross for you and me?\u00a0 It was because of love.<\/p>\n We may want to love people God\u2019s way, but how<\/em> do we do that?\u00a0 If we love God first and foremost, then loving those around us is the natural result.\u00a0 Focusing on those two commandments, which according to Jesus Himself are the most crucial, will help us live out God\u2019s love.\u00a0 All the other commandments are fulfilled in those two..<\/p>\n People get beat up in this world.\u00a0 What they want is to have someone care for them.\u00a0 We are born with a need to be loved.\u00a0 We are also made to reach out to others, but it is more than that.\u00a0 I can do a multitude of good deeds.\u00a0 However, if those acts are not accompanied with love, then what have I really gained?<\/p>\n I encourage you to watch \u201cThe Proof of Your Love\u201d at the following link:<\/p>\n
