\u201cWork willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. \u00a0Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.\u201d\u00a0 (Colossians 3:23-24, NLT)<\/strong> <\/p>\n

\u00a0I don\u2019t sing well\u2014although I\u2019d like to.\u00a0 I haven\u2019t heard the call to the mission field, but I admire the people who go to foreign lands to tell others about Jesus.\u00a0 I don\u2019t preach or teach in front of crowds of people, even though I wish I had that ability.<\/p>\n

What is my \u201cjob\u201d for the Lord?\u00a0 What has He called me to do?\u00a0 For me, that has varied with the different seasons of my life. <\/p>\n

When my two older boys were little, we lived on a street where most of the residents were elderly.\u00a0 Eventually, I started doing little things to help three of them who were widows.\u00a0 I loved \u201cwatching over\u201d these old ladies, and it wasn\u2019t all one sided.\u00a0 No.\u00a0 I gained a great deal of wisdom from them.\u00a0 One watched the boys for me when I needed to run errands, etc.\u00a0 The ladies loved having kids\/babies in the neighborhood, and it was good for boys to spend time with them, too.<\/p>\n

There was one time, however, when I remember feeling very overwhelmed.\u00a0 My two young sons were demanding my time (as kids will), and my three old ladies were needing a lot of extra attention right then.\u00a0 I felt resentment creep in.<\/p>\n

\u201cBe still, and know that I am God!\u201d[1]<\/strong><\/a><\/strong> The verse from Psalms invaded my thoughts.\u00a0 I remember taking a deep breath and trying to quiet my mind.\u00a0 Then, I was able to listen to what God was trying to tell me.<\/p>\n

It was a turning point in my life and walk with God.\u00a0 I was right where I was supposed to be.\u00a0 I was doing exactly what God wanted me to do at that moment.\u00a0 My ministry, for that time, was helping those old ladies.\u00a0 I had never thought of it that way.\u00a0 After all, I was just there<\/em>\u2014I didn\u2019t feel like I was doing <\/em>much.\u00a0 If they needed groceries, I went and got them.\u00a0 If they had a doctor\u2019s appointment and the family wasn\u2019t available, I took them.\u00a0 If a light bulb went out, I changed it for them.\u00a0 To me, it didn\u2019t seem like much but, nevertheless, this was what God had called me to do.\u00a0 In a way, they were my mission field.<\/p>\n

The Lord desires for us to be available and willing to serve Him in whatever capacity that means.\u00a0 Every call He sends out is important, from those serving in front of the multitudes to those toiling in jobs that no one sees or ever knows about.\u00a0 He has something for each one of us to do\u2014we each have a part in God\u2019s overall plan.\u00a0 God\u2019s blessings will pour into your life as you follow His leading.\u00a0 Ask Him what it is that He wants you to do.\u00a0 No matter how small a task may seem to you, it is not insignificant to the Lord.<\/p>\n
